I know… se me hizo agua la boca tambien! lol
As I was reading the materials sent to me, one thing that struck me was, a warning. A warning to watch out for fake miel. WOW, Imagine that! FAKE HONEY?? No way? That should be illegal or something, que no?
Mira…
Imitation honey products are packaged like 100% pure honey and want to make us believe they are 100% pure honey, when in reality they contain added ingredients, other than the floral nectar gathered and stored in the comb by honey bees.
100% pure honey is an all-natural sweetener and learning to distinguish it from imitation honeys is simple. The easiest methods involve reading the label and verifying the place of purchase.
Some tips to help us as we go a la tienda to buy us some hon-ay! (: (Hint: labels, labels, labels!)
- Label terminology – Watch out for products that include the terms honey blend, honey flavored and/or honey syrup – they are NOT 100% pure honey.
- Label ingredient – Honey is a completely natural ingredient. 100% pure honey does not contain any other ingredient – Honey is the only ingredient listed on the label of 100% pure honey.
- Point of Purchase – Pure honey in this country is best bought from local and national grocery stores, warehouse or convenience stores and local farmer stands/markets.
- Price – if the price of a honey product is too low chances are it is not 100% pure honey.
