After our trip to the Ford Rouge, we went straight to a Safety tour that was being conducted at the Research and Engineering Center in the Safety Laboratories Department. This was awesome…
First thing we learned about were the Crash Tests they do there. Oh to be a mosca on that wall! (:
Did you know?
- More than 17,000 crash tests have been conducted since 1954
- 2-3 crash tests are conducted per day
We didn’t get to see an actual crash test, but we did get to see some cool stuff though. We saw a deployment of a Crash Simulation Sled. They had us cover our ears, because the deployment is super loud.
We saw a deployment of Air Bags. DIOS MIO! Again we were told to cover our ears, because of how loud it is. My goodness, when I saw and heard that noise, I was stunned! I hope and PRAY that you never, ever have to experience an accident. The air bags come out with such force, that I swear I was experiencing some psychosomatic pain! When I saw how powerful those bags came out at those dummies, me dolio! lol
Look at this Crash Test Dummy Familia…
One of the new features that Ford is going to offer next year, on all 2011 Ford Explorers (as an option), is rear seat belt air bags. The seat belts look somewhat like regular seat belts. Here we have Andrea of Savvy Sassy Moms demonstrating the new air bag seat belts.
Ford really goes out of it’s way, for the safety of you and your familia. I left there truly impressed with all of their ongoing projects. Especially with all the stuff I can’t post about, because they haven’t officially announced it yet.
I don’t have more pictures, because they were not allowed in most places. Stay tuned, as I continue my posts on my Ford Curve Control event.
*Disclaimer* This is a Sponsored trip by Ford Motor Company. I was not paid for this post. A special Gracias to Ford.
