I live in a cocoon. Since the kids have been off for summer vacation, I have been living in my OC cocoon. Por Que? Well, because of Jonah. Since school let out, my Jonah has had NO allergies. No asthma coughs. No problems. Awesome, que no? Sure! I wish we could all live our lives here, in our little rinconsito.
But that is not a good I idea. Given the fact, que mis niños joden mucho!
On Sunday I left for my fantastic trip to visit Ford Motors, so I left my mocosos angels with the babysitter my mom. Which is great. I know that no one will take better care of the kids, than my mom. Especially Jonah, being the weak link and all…. Yay for Mom!
Well….Yay for her, Booo for me.
Tuesday evening, I got back from my trip and my hubby went to the airport to pick me up. Thinking that he brought the whole mexipino crew, I was excited to see the kids. Much to my SORPRESA, when he pulled up-I noticed no mexipinitos.
He saw my “wth” look on my face, and before I could say anything, he blurted out that the kids went to the park with my mom. MY HEART SANK!
Not for the reason that they didn’t come to greet me, but because I knew Jonah was taken out of our cocoon.
Before I left for Miami, Jonah was diagnosed with Asthma. The Doctor ran some allergy tests and the results came back with Jonah being positive to being allergic in 6 of the 14 tests done. His allergies trigger his asthma.
Jonah is severely allergic to Cats and Trees (of all kinds).
Then moderately allergic to Dust, Pollen, Dog hair, and Grass.
Very good… you are so right! What do you find at a parque?
Trees and dust and pollen and grass.
Why, Madre?? Why did you take them out? To take the wiggles out of them? I know I can’t judge her. I am grateful that she took care of them, no questions asked, but seriously? The PARK? **sigh**
When I got home, we ate and I gave the kids a bath. I noticed that Jonah had a cut lip ( he fell at the park). Eh, whatever… kids fall all the time. Then as my luck would have it, I saw 3 bite marks close to his left ankle.
Grrreeaaaat! I scanned his entire body for more, but thank God, I didn’t find any more. I told my husband what I found, and to keep a close watch on Jonah, because for sure he would start coughing. Y por fin, that day, is today.
Jonah started to cough this morning (more than usual). I knew the allergies have taken over. I brought out the Anti-histamine and the breathing treatments. Now, I just have to wait and see how long this “episode” will last. The last time he was at a park, it was earlier in June. He spent 5 hours in the park.
4 days later his face was covered in a rash. No where else on his body was there a rash (he had pants and a long sleeve top on). It took 10 days for Jonah to recover from the rash and cough. I was going to take him to the E.R. when I couldn’t control his cough, but decided not to, after I used (for the first time) the Rescue inhalant. His cough was then controlled.
See why we live in a cocoon….

Ay no, I understand you eventhough we don’t have those type of allergies here. But if you have to live in a cocoon to live better, do what you need to do!! Also, I have realized along the years that I have to be very very careful when I instruct my mom, I repeat things to her MUCHAS veces to make sure she’s got it right. And even so, there is always misunderstandings, Ay Dios!!
I hear ya! Austin has chronic lung disease and uses breathing treatments and Oxygen every day of his life…oh the headache! Poor kiddo being allergic to well the outside..aye!
