Good heavens, I totally agree. This is a minor child, her mother really should know about this; maybe it will help her to see that acting in this aggressive way is the wrong way to go. Amazing artifact that note is.

Hi Liz, I love your site. Wait, what is 'lengua'? Is that some special tooth thing that I don't know about?

My boyfriend's son from his previous marriage lives with us now and he has braces and he's 23 years old! I feel like a shrew haranguing him about brushing his teeth, but basically every single dime of our discretionary income has gone into his mouth. I try not to meditate to long on what on earth could be wrong with his mother that she not only neglected his teeth but seems to have neglected to actually teach him how to brush his teeth (and yes I know my sweetheart is at fault here as well, though he is a somewhat fanatical tooth brusher himself). ::sigh::

Anyway, should I be saying 'lengua' to him as well? what does it mean?

Oh MY, Ellie! How scary for you! I can't imagine what your family went through last year. Pneumonia is on the back of my mind constantly.... He's already had it once. Sigh... Thank you for the wonderful comment and encouraging words.

Oh I know exactly what you're going through. My oldest and my middle son battled asthma when they were younger. They are now 29 and 26. I never thought I'd make it through the asthma years.
Now my middle son has a 4 year old severely asthmatic son. My beautiful grandson is 48 lbs. also and he has been to the ER 4 times the last year. Last month he was hospitalized for 6 days with RSV/pneumonia. On oxygen for 4 of those days. I was so worried about him. He has been on so many meds, including the oral steroids, that I was also worried about all that in his little body.
He is seeing a pediatric pulmonologist now and it finally seems that his asthma is under control. He is off the oral steroids and the Albuterol. They put him on Advair 45/21 inhaler with a spacer. We were scared to death to start him on Advair until his doctor assured us that it was less dangerous than all the Albuterol and oral steroids he'd been taking the last year. It's still scary...but it is making a world of difference. He doesn't start wheezing and coughing now when he runs around and gets hot or when he laughs too much. He doesn't breathe so heavy anymore. He says he feels like a normal kid now. It has really been a blessing. We all just hope he keeps on improving.

Good luck with your son....it is such a scary thing to worry about your child's breathing.
