I’ve never been to the Discovery Center.  I’ve passed by it a million times, but never had the chance to go in. I think this is soon to change though.  My kids and their fascination with bubbles is what is going to make this happen!  The 15th Anniversary of Bubblefest will run April 2 – 24, 2011.

Bubblefest is the ultimate Spring Break family event, featuring the exclusive Mega Bubble Show. The Mega Bubble Show is a high-tech combination of art and science, lights and special effects brought to Southern California by bubble artists and world record-holders, Fan Yang and son Deni Yang. Both Fan and Deni will perform throughout the event.

World-renowned for their unique and stunning artistry, the Yang Family will perform four MegaBubble Shows daily (11:00am, 12:30pm, 2:00pm, 3:30pm). The Mega Bubble Show highlights bubble carousels, bubbles within bubbles, smoking bubbles, spinning bubbles, bouncing bubbles and bubbles in all shapes and sizes.  Also on April 4, at 9:00 am, the Yang family will attempt to set a world record by encapsulating 150 people in a big, gigantic bubble! O.M.G.!!!

Bubblefest is included with general admission to Discovery Science Center from April 2 – 24. The annual event offers science learning stations in the Bubble Lab, bubble blowing fun at the Bubble Courtyard and new bubble-busting exhibits! Bubble science activities demonstrate surface tension, elasticity, air pressure, geometry and more. Don’t forget to revisit the Center’s more than 100 permanent hands-on exhibits and 4-D Discovery Theater!

With the cost of gas now and days, and the Discovery Center being so close to home, this is definitely the place to be during spring break and beyond!

Also offered during Bubblefest is the “Me in a Bubble” experience, where guests can have their photo taken inside a giant soap bubble! “Me in a Bubble” is an additional fee of $12 for DSC members and $15 for the general public.

Que Rica Vida is set to become the new go-to site for Latina Moms.  With information ranging from recipes and products to babies and health advice.  The website is conducted completely in Spanish!  Along with celebrities and a host of hispanic press, for the first time ever, they were able to bring Latina bloggers together.

My trip started off with a little hiccup, but I was able to get to Miami safe and sound. The anticipation of finally getting to meet my fellow Latina bloggers had my heart pounding the minute I landed.  Since I was late, I had little time to get ready.  I was in my hotel room for about 15 mins.  before leaving to meet everyone down stairs.  As I got into the elevator, I knew that the moment had finally arrived.  I was going to meet my “blog” hermanas.

I stepped out of the elevator and I recognized the familiar faces of the bloggers that are based here in Cali.  Then the hugs and squeals started!

No one could have prepared me for the felizidad that I felt in meeting everyone.  We all kind of knew each other by reading our blogs. Keeping up with and supporting each other on-line is easy, but to meet in real life was simply surreal.   We were treated to a dinner, in which we were able to meet and great media from all over the country.

I had the chance to chat with some of the chicas, then it was off to get what little sleep my excitement would let me have.

The next day we had the day to ourselves.  These pictures are just a glimpse of how Latina Bloggers took over South Beach.

The beach… Ay mama, guys!   Growing up in California and living so close to the beach,  I always thought to myself, eh… you’ve been to one beach, what’s another?  Boy was I wrong….

It was crystal blue.  The air was clean.  The humidity was tolerable.  The view…. amazing!

The event itself was nothing short of amazing. Karla Martinez, Adamari Lopez, Angelica Vale, Dra. Aliza and Ursula Mejia-Melgar were simply radiant.  The event had a mock “Iron Chef”, Latino Style that was great to watch.

After there was a great reception that was first class all the way.  Throughout  the event, all I could say to myself, was “Wow, Liz… look where you’re at.  I am truly blessed.”  Daily, I close my eyes to re-live those moments.  The memories I made there will forever live in my mind and in my heart.

Later I will show you what being high on Latina Bloggers and the Miami sea air does to someone (if I have the guts to post the video here)!

It’s action packed and fun from start to finish.  My kids (3,4 and 12) have seen a 3-D movie before, but not like this.  The little ones kept taking off the 3-D glasses that they provide.  A little word of caution: There is a part of the movie that features a “godzilla” type monster.  We had a 2 year old in the group, and did get a little scared.  My 3yo took off her glasses by then and did not want to put them back on.

BUT!!!!  They said the LOVED it… so, go figure.. You can check out my Whrrl story here.

After the show was over, we had the rest of the day, to explore LegoLand.  This was out first visit to the park, and what a memorable time it was!!  The park is perfect for kids of all ages. There’s something for everyone. My 12yo was able to ride most of the rides.  Some ride were perfect for his age, others where perfect for the little ones in our group.

BTW, in our group were 3 moms (including myself) my 12yo and 6, yes I repeat, 6 niños under four. How we did it, no lo se, but we did…lol!

Here are some pointers and tips when visiting the park:

• LegoLand is VERY strict with height requirement. VERY strict.  Which is good, don’t get me wrong, but in some rides, (little “dumbo”type rides) my 12yo was not allowed to ride with my 4yo.
• It’s better to go in even #’s.  Some, if not all, rides are 2 seaters. This is hard if you go alone with your 2 kids.( we found out the hard way!)
• They have hills, not big hills, but still, they are hills….prepare for that.
• There are other shows that look like a lot of fun. Great when the weather is hot!

If you plan to make a trip out there, don’t forget to check out the aquarium!  It’s amazing!!!! (:
