I don’t take vitamins.  The last time I took a vitamin pill was my prenatal one, some 4 years ago. I don’t like it.  I hate the tastes that some of them have.  You what is the worst part of taking vitamins?  That initial smell, when you open up the cap… ugh!!!!

But, ley de la vida… we must take it.  When I got this bottle of vitamins, I was a little apprehensive.  Just being honest!  I have given the kids the gummy vitamins.  I bought them once.  Never again.  I accidentally left them in a place where the kids can get into them.  They thought they were candy, and in 1 day… finished it all!  Ay mama!

Vitafusion Calcium Gummy Vitamins are different from what I had in mind.  They are tasty.  A little creamy.  A hint of sourness. Great, chewy gummy.  It does leave a little bit of an after taste.  Nothing compared to the yucky aftertaste some vitamins leave!

I take 2 a day, and it gives me the same amount of calcium as 2-6oz glasses of milk.  This is pretty great for me, since I am lactose intolerant. It also has Vitamin D equal to the amount of 3oz of Salmon.  Again, Whoo Hoo, since I don’t eat Seafood.  This is a win/win situation.  Not only is the vitamin easy on my tummy, it gives me all the good stuff I need as an woman who is about to hit…. never mind.

Take out the trash, eat your broccoli—who needs moms, anyway? Nine-year-old Milo (Seth Green) finds out just how much he needs his mom when she’s nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. With the help of a tech-savvy, underground earthman named Gribble (Dan Fogler) and a rebel Martian girl called Ki (Elisabeth Harnois), Milo just might find his way back to his mom—in more ways than one.

Now, by reading that short synopsis, you can see that the movie has a very fictional feel to it.  Very Sci-fi!  If you know your kid likes this kind of stuff, great!  You will love the animation.  The colors and the special effects this movie has, is very impressive.   This is the kind of movie that is great for 3D.  So, this movie is about the “value” of moms.  Human Moms.  It has it’s funny parts, and is full of adventure.  It’ll keep the kids entertained.  For a while at least.

I don’t know if you have this problem, I have it mostly with the little ones.  When there’s a lot of dialog in a movie, their attention span takes a nose dive.  This is when the “Mom, I need to go to the bathroom” or “Mom, I’m tired, I want to go home now” start and the wiggles set in.  Does this happen to you?  I can see it happening a lot with this movie.

When I saw this movie, I didn’t have my kids with me.   Will I take my kids to see this movie?  Definitely the 12yo. Not so much my 5 and 4 year olds.  Why?  One: It’s in 3D. Two: If you want your kids to get the gist of the movie, they have to be old enough to “get” the message. Three: The movie kind of drags on in the middle and I’m sure the little ones will get bored, FAST!  Also, if your young ones are going through a little bit of a separation anxiety of some sort, this is not a time to see this movie.

Can you relate to that clip?  I can.  In more ways than one.  I saw myself in this film time and time again.  The struggles that we are facing raising a tween, is become a little too challenging for me.  This is why I say that this movie is more for older kids.  I know that by seeing this movie with my son, the challenges with my kid will not ease off, or that it’s going to teach him a valuable lesson.  I would like for him to see the movie so I can see his reaction with what should be familiar scenes.

Overall, I like the movie.  It’s really a sweet and emotionally moving movie. The end had me wiping my boogers on my sleeve from a very touching scene between mother and son.  Thank you Disney, for making a quality movie that shows the true value of…. Moms!

My 5yo was the one that saw it first.  He was super eager to open it, but after reading it closer, I saw that it was rated for ages 10 and over.  Still, he tried it.

He lasted about 15 minuets.  The game was too hard for him.  My 12yo finished the game (yes game, not levels) fast and easy!

The game is easy to navigate.  I played with it, and I soon learned why it would be hard for my 5yo.   The setting is an amusement park.  You have to fight off robots and Monkey’s that are trying to ruin the grand opening of the park.

It is a shooting game, but instead of guns and bullets you get water spouts.  I like that!  I’ve had with all the guns in games now in days!  It’s also water based.  Your main weapon is spraying your enemies down. They combat with throwing fruits.  You also have the option of throwing water bombs.

Overall, I think this game will keep your kids entertained. It’s fun, it’s full of adventures! The ending is pretty cool too! (:

Pirate Blast is rated E and sells for $19.99!

Synopsis: From the director of "The Pirates of the Caribbean" comes RANGO, featuring Johnny Depp in an original animated comedy-adventure that takes moviegoers for a hilarious and heartfelt walk in the Wild West.

I was laughing through out the whole movie. My kids were laughing. There’s fun and adventure that I’m sure any kids in the “tween” stage would love.

Although this movie is rated PG, I as a Mom of a tween, 4 and 5 year olds, I beg to differ. This is being heavily promoted on Nickelodeon as a kid movie…. hmmmm?

My thoughts:

I personally liked the movie.  I know that my 12 year old LOVED the movie.  My 5 year old loved it too, but…. I don’t think I would like for him to watch it again.  There is a lot of adult humor. A lot!  No sex scenes, but a lot of stuff that I know my 5yo doesn’t understand yet.  There are some scary scenes with a rattle snake towards the end.  That frightened my little one a bit.  Some of the language is kind of strong too.  The words “Hell” and “Damn” is used in a very climatic part of the movie.

Another thing I have to tell you about (one thing I love as a Latina) is that this movie uses a lot of Spanish.  If you see the video above you know that the owls are Mariachis.  Some of the funnier jokes (for me) were the ones told in Spanish.  When I went to the pre-screening,  I found my cousin and I were the only ones laughing in the theater because the jokes that were told in Spanish.  Now, I’m not saying that this is a “Latino” movie.  But, if you don’t understand a single word of Spanish, then…. good luck! All of this is very evident in the clip. Listen to the accents, amigos!
